30 Fathom Doormats are handwoven on Grand Manan Island in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Grand Manan sits just off the coast of Maine the mouth of the Bay of Fundy.
Doormats are woven from reclaimed or new lobster trap rope and are available in a variety of colours. Custom sizes are also available. Reclaimed rope doormats are mostly light green or orange. Occasionally we also receive black, yellow and light blue coloured reclaimed rope.
New rope colours are red, black, yellow orange, emerald green, lime green, purple, seafoam, royal blue, cobalt blue and a slightly darker blue. The new rope used to make our doormats is made primarily in Maine, USA with some of it also coming from Korea and Portugal via either the US or Canada.
The rope is used in lobster fishery and is either polypropylene, or polyethylene and is mostly 3/8 inch in diameter. The cobalt blue new rope mats and some orange and aqua reclaimed rope mats are available in 1/2 inch diameters.
